COMPOSITION NO.1

Visuals

Composition No.1 was originally a published book in the 1960s. This is literally a book in a box with loose pages you can read in any order. This moves away from the traditional linear ways of book telling as it leaves it to the reader to which order they read it in so to any one person it can be the same book but a different story. If someone wants to read it again, they can with a completely different story which makes it unique and a quality I really like the idea.

Composition No.1 was also brought more up to date in the sense of developing an iPad app version of the book, however the screen version leaves the readers no choice in shuffling the pages.

Lots of publishers today are joining future advertising, digital, with past advertising of just printing to make them more appealing and I think also widens an audience.
This book is designed by Universal Everything, a UK-based design studio known for their interactive screen-based work.

TALKING SHOP

Retail Design

Stores now are becoming less physically uncertain to go into with the growing popularity of online shopping. This goes for any high street store to even the more high end stores. However, with the more luxury market certain people still expect a more personal experience, especially when paying a four or five figure sum. The higher end stores still need to create an exciting experience to entice customers in.

One brand that took a creative approach to retail is Dover Street Market (London). In 2004 the London outlet, spread over six floors, combines curated collections of luxury fashion with changing installations and displays from emerging and established artists. Every six months the stores changes up completely with new products, installations and layout. For the store's 10th birthday they introduced a Nike Lab and Louis Vuitton's first pop-up.

This gives shoppers not just a place to shop, but also be inspired by what's around them. This approach has expanded in different stores, all over the world. This is now a massive concept we see in the stores increasingly and up until 2004 in was a totally new idea.

STREET ART

Street art from Shoreditch, East London - creative works feature all over this part of town. With this 3D stand out work you get the sense someone is watching you as it blends in with the wall colour and the eyes are so life like, but it does have the pop of colour which works with the tribal-like design.

INDIA

This work shows the daily life of India, attracting you to its culture.

This image attracts you instantly with its vibrant colours and patterns.

This image gives you a relaxed feel compared to some of the other train images you might have seen about India, which effectively entices you to visit India along with the welcoming faces featured.

Both images have inspirational quotes from cultural leaders, who the locals would look up to such as the 11th President of India. Someone who is very influential is Gandhi and quoting his words can connect a wider audience around the world.
